HITACHI: Inspire the next

Mr.Namihei Odaira, an engineer of Kuhara Mining Co.,Ltd. (currently locate in Hitachi Province) , started the legend of Hitachi in 1910 by producing electric motors as the first product under brandname "Hitachi" (Hi mean the sun , Tachi mean rising). He believes that it was the way for countries to achieve economic growth and there by raise living standards.

In 1920, Hitachi Co.,Ltd. was officially established with registered capital of 10 million yen. Since 1942, Hitachi has become recognized for its dedication to research and development.

Hitachi invested more than 140,320 million baht in R&D. At present, the company has 18 R&D centers worldwide comprising six centers in Japan, five in the U.S.A, three in England and four in China. As a result of its dedication, Hitachi has experienced steady growth, successfully meeting the needs of customers in many business segments. Hitachi produces more than 20,000 products including home appliances, machinery for heavy industry, computers, electronic devices, auto parts, transportation and communication product, etc.

Over a period of 40 years, Hitachi has established 42 Nuclear plants in Japan and overseas. The company developed Super Computers capable of more than 10 billion calculations per second. These are just simple of the many superior technologies developed by Hitachi.
In addition, in the 2003-2004 fiscal year, Hitachi recorded sales of 3.4 trillion baht, with net profit of 19,168 million baht and 347,424 employees around the world.

Most recently, in 2002, the company established Hitachi Home and life Solutions. Inc. with registered capital of 8,750 million baht to support worldwide marketing needs. This company has an international network of more than 10,000 staff and annual sales of 199,500 million baht.
